Cosmetology is a unique occupation that requires a large amount of beauty skills of the body. The amount of young men and women who are becoming cosmetologist around the nation has increased. Many argue that this profession isn’t a useful job that requires any effort or skill- some even think cosmetology is a waste of a profession and time. However, the few who enjoy perfecting clients appearances disagree. Cosmetology comes with many benefits and should be appreciated. Helping others feel beautiful is a key role in the job. Keeping a calm and level head while dealing with clients is also very important. Providing personal touch, opinions, and suggestions will make clients feel special and that their best interest is in mind. “In less than a year of school, you’ll have the needs and skills to succeed. By the time you complete your training, you’ll be fully prepared to sit for and pass for your license exam. Being friendly and hardworking to any type of person is an important step to have returning customers. According to Jobmonkey, “Some of the most challenging aspects today are trying to get young students to understand the importance of hard work and dependability.” To be a young cosmetologist, the requirements are to be understanding, have quality skills in beauty and pursue the desire to continue hard work for the license.
There are countless people in the world who would consider cosmetology as a smooth sailing type of occupation, but they haven’t thought deeper and more carefully into what really happens behind the scenes. Becoming a young cosmetologist is not all about the skill level that is possessed. When being a cosmetologist, you must be level headed, calm, collected, considerate, hardworking and understanding. Learning to cooperate with clients before taking charge of cutting their hair off or creating a makeup design to cover their face the day of their marriage is important because you can connect with them on a more personal level and can understand their desires more clear. Hairstylist/ cosmetologists have to have the proper products to manage their jobs and people. Being committed to a vision will reach more success for an individual in cosmetology. In addition, when taking the role of a cosmetologist, the main task is to be wired enough in the brain to stay focused and use a certain extent of creativity to keep yourself focused on the task. Usage of time is important and should be handled very wisely, also including personal touch will reassure your clients that you truly care for them. Acting professional is the best way to have returning clients as well as practice, patience and purpose. Learning to display your skills in attractive ways will be easier to to sell yourself to others. In order to impress those in the workplace you have to have strengths without boasting or making the business line come off unattractively. When collecting the right materials to succeed in the job, simply taking on the task will seem more fun and less stressful. “Having these strengths without successfully displaying them will mean absolutely nothing. In order to be successful in your workplace, learning to display the tools, chair, desk, etc, in the best and cleanest way.” (Cory Pick) Keeping a clean area is one of the many requirements of having an attractive workspace for an appealing look for your clients.The more your workspace has a more attractive and clean look to it, the more customers will feel comfortable with trusting you to work on their skin and hair. For many people, if the work area is unorganized, they will not give the employer a chance to be their cosmetologist. While working on your client, many will look for little things such as how you clean your brushes or dust off your counter- because of their careful examination, it will determine their returning appearance. Going into the job young will teach you early to learn some organization, and educate yourself on how to properly handle the general public in an orderly way.
While continuing a career for any job one must have the capability of working hard every day for every client and task. Cosmetologists have to continue working on their license if wanting to pursue their role as a cosmetologist. Cosmetology jobs are increasing around the nation and employers are looking for reliable, responsible and hardworking students to take the position. Working with other people may already be a difficult task to some, but include the work hours, messes, clean-ups, financial and business bills- it adds up to a stressful job. Cosmetology is a difficult job but can easily be maintained by keeping responsibility rates high. Teaching self responsibility and motivation during cosmetology is a key to enjoy the job. As easy as it sounds to tell people “I can’t do it”, “This might be out of your price range” “Let’s pick out a different style to fit you”- it’s not. Being a cosmetologist means you have to have determination to complete a request that has been given to recreate a look. If starting the job early, a few high schools across the country offer an opportunity to start cosmetology classes that will prepare you for an actual cosmetology course.Though many high schools aren’t as complex with their courses and don’t provide a high school cosmetology level class it is easy to find a college around your general area to fulfil your dreams. “Students determine how long it takes to graduate… young motivated students are capable of getting 1800 hours before they graduate. According to Pat Henning. “Tailored programs allow students to learn through hands on activities and practice in the beauty trade.” Hard working students who pursue the dream of earning their cosmetology license will put in many hours just to accomplish their goals and move onto the next step. Finally, being a young cosmetologist requires a consistent mentality that you can assist others when they are reaching out for you to help.
Cosmetology is a career for people who can work hard and are skilled in the beauty profession. There are many requirements the job that have many different skills from actual talents in creating a different look for someone to organization in your space. This job fits perfectly for me because I am creative, and love the beauty of the body. Many are not fit for this type of work, which is why I want to step out and change the way people look at this profession. Cosmetology is an important job, and young employees who have the skills to occupy this position should look into it because it boosts others confidence and is a great way to spend your time if you enjoy these types of tasks.
